Ten Out of Tenn, the celebrated collective of ten nationally recognized, independent Nashville-based songwriters is thrilled to announce its Fall 2011 tour which will include 15 cities across the USA and their fourth compilation album out August 16.
Artists returning to the 2011 lineup include group founder Trent Dabbs, Andrew Belle, k.s. Rhoads, Butterfly Boucher, Matthew Perryman Jones, Jeremy Lister, Katie Herzig and Tyler James. They are joined by talented newcomers Gabe Dixon and Amy Stroup.
Ten Out of Tenn was conceived in 2005 by musician Trent Dabbs in order for local Nashville artists to come together as a group and support one another while showcasing the raw pop-rock talent Nashville had to offer. TOT has since grown into a solid community of artists making their own unique brands of diverse, organic music which is often hiding in the shadows of the manufactured country music emerging from Nashville today. As BMI put it in 2008, "If 15 nights of packed clubs were any indication, Ten out of Tenn's blend of — as Dabbs puts it — 'Nashville plus sincere music' was quite a success." And in the years to follow, TOT has continued to pack venues and increase their fan base.
Each of the ten artists featured on the TOT tour have homegrown indie roots but all are critically respected, with commercial successes in film (Something Borrowed, The Proposal, Shrek 2), collectively over 150 TV placements (Grey's Anatomy, Hawaii Five- O, Brothers & Sisters), and radio (NPR, KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic). They have shared the stage with such artists as REM, Paul McCartney, The Fray, Sarah McLaughlin John Mayer, and Ingrid Michaelson. Individually, the artists have released over 30
albums.
Ten Out Of Tenn has produced three compilation albums, a Christmas album, a benefit album for the Nashville flood, six tours, and several showcases at music festivals, including SXSW. In the summer of 2008, the group was featured in an award-winning documentary by independent filmmaker Jeff Wyatt Wilson called Any Day Now. The film tracked the artists as they travelled on Willie Nelson's old beat up tour bus on their very first tour, hitting city after city, sharing songs, and sharing the spotlight. A sort of "rockumentary", the film is part concert footage, part "life on tour", displaying the true sense of family and friendship that materializes from such an innovative collaboration.
Founder Trent Dabbs says, "It's been encouraging to see the relationships that have been built through Ten Out of Tenn turn into collaborations that have shown up on each others' albums. What goes on in this group is so much more than just our time on the road." This year, TOT is proud to announce a special partnership with PBS in several of the larger tour markets. PBS will be airing, Ten Out of Tenn: The Documentary, beginning in June and will also be conducting Pledge Drives to help increase ticket sales.
