BIO

Keith Paine lives and works in New York City, where his raw, catchy brand of post modern blues-pop and his killer voice are cutting through the static and turning heads. Harkening both to the strut of early Bowie and to the Black Keys, Paine strips his songs down—blues, beats, lyrical hooks and the sex that’s a part of all good pop--and gets something fresh and even unique in exchange. His band is a posse of all-star NYC talent, and in his emerging career he’s worked with artists Charlie Musselwhite, Aaron Johnston (Brazilian Girls), and Rob Clores (Black Crowes), as well as producers Jay Newland (Norah Jones) and Jason Olaine (Verve Remix).

Paine wrote and co-produced his new EP--Get Just What You Want—and is releasing it through his own NimbleMusic imprint. Recorded in one long session, Get Just What You Want showcases great songwriting, righteous playing, and some old-school live energy.

Called out for his "serious hooks" in the New York Press, Paine has also been given props for his “superb pop” on Garageband.com. He’s been featured in local press like the Stamford Advocate and been taped with his band for Fox TV’s Fearless Music program, a launching pad for NYC acts like Gym Class Heroes.

Other highlights for Paine include recording his debut record with Grammy-winner Jay Newland (Norah Jones) and working with African singing star Ramatou Diakite on a one-off east meets west recording called Maba. Paine co-wrote and sang on 2 of the songs on Maba, resulting in a record of complete originality and surprising beauty. The record got a really positive local response in New York City, and Paine ended up performing with Diakite at Summerstage in Central Park.

Paine and his partner at NimbleMusic, Daniel Lucas, are currently building his expanding global community of fans, freaks and music lovers (what up Brasil!), and working to bring his live show to the world. He and his band have opened for Jean Grae at CMJ, done a string of shows in Austin in the madness of SXSW, and will continue to branch out in 2009. A longtime yoga practitioner, Paine is also currently writing, recording and producing a meditation CD for release on the NimbleMusic label in 2009.
