Greetings. My name is Dustin Edge.

I was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. I’ve been influenced by many different artists over the years, including The Magnetic Fields, Uncle Tupelo, Brian Eno, Fugazi, George Gershwin, King Crimson, Sam Cooke, Minor Threat, David Byrne, Slint, Public Enemy, Steve Earle, and Neutral Milk Hotel.

A few years ago, I moved to Prague, Czech Republic. I’d always wanted to live and work abroad and was attracted to Prague by its cultural and musical history, from gypsy street performers to Mozart’s Don Giovanni, as well as the architectural beauty of the city itself.

Aside from hours spent in coffeehouses and beer gardens, I also played a weekly show in the bar of a local hostel, which gave me the chance to work on new material and meet a wide variety of locals and travelers.

Soon after I arrived, I started work on a collection of new demos influenced by my experiences abroad. When I was crafting these new ideas I didn’t assign any titles, just numbers all the way from 00 to 57.

As the lyrics took shape, I found myself making reference to geometric paradigms and other mathematical qualities. I began to concoct a combination of words that attempted to balance my analysis of numerical order with the emotional aspects of daily life.

Anyway, after moving back to New York City last year, I picked my favorite ideas, found a studio and an engineer I felt comfortable working with, and set out to make a new release. The result is my new EP, By The Numbers.
